Position Summary
As a Project Designer, you will be instrumental in creating functional, code-compliant, and visually compelling signage and wayfinding systems. This role requires strong graphic design skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with architectural environments.
You will collaborate closely with project managers, fabricators, and clients to develop signage concepts, technical drawings, and production files, ensuring design integrity throughout the process.
This is an ideal role for designers passionate about environmental graphic design (EGD) and who want to make a tangible impact on how people experience space.
Key Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive signage families including exterior, interior, ADA-compliant, and digital signage.
Interpret brand guidelines and architectural context into clear, consistent visual systems.
Produce detailed technical drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication-ready files with CAD.
Coordinate with project managers and fabricators to ensure designs are feasible, code-compliant.
Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and inform design accuracy.
Prepare client presentations, submittals, and revisions, incorporating stakeholder feedback.
Stay current with industry trends, materials, fabrication technologies, and accessibility regulations.
Maintain organized design documentation and version control.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
100% on-time delivery of design milestones and documentation.
90%+ client approval on initial design submissions.
98% accuracy rate on technical drawings and fabrication files.
Full ADA and code compliance with zero design-related permit rejections.
Ability to manage 3–5 projects concurrently without quality compromise.
Positive feedback from cross-functional teams on collaboration and communication.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Environmental Design, Industrial Design, Architecture.
2–5 years of professional experience in signage design, wayfinding, or environmental graphic design.
Strong portfolio showcasing spatial graphics, typography, branding, and technical documentation.
Skills & Competencies
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD preferred; SketchUp or Rhino a plus).
Understanding of fabrication processes and material specifications.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and building codes.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Collaborative mindset and willingness to iterate design based on feedback.
